Engineering ideas into working systems.

I’m Abdullah Mohammed Ewidah. I build at the intersection of embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.

01 / About

Curious across the whole stack.

Overview

I’m a computer engineering student at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. My work spans firmware and connected devices, machine learning, and cloud infrastructure. I enjoy turning an idea into a system I can build, test, and improve.

Completed

YOLO Quantization Framework

A five-stage Python framework for FPGA-aware YOLO quantization and fixed-point hardware simulation, with less than 0.5% degradation compared with the floating-point baseline.

  • Python
  • Computer vision
  • FPGA

Highlights

  • Built a five-stage Python pipeline covering FPGA-aware quantization of a YOLO object detector.
  • Simulated fixed-point hardware arithmetic to check accuracy before committing to an FPGA design.
  • Kept degradation below 0.5% across the reported detection metrics compared with the floating-point baseline.

Mechanical Health Digital Twin

A real-time digital twin for mechanical fault detection and predictive health monitoring, combining embedded sensing with data analytics.

  • Embedded sensing
  • Analytics
  • Digital twin

Highlights

  • My senior design project at KFUPM, currently in progress.
  • Pairs embedded sensing on the machine with data analytics on its digital model.
  • Aims to detect mechanical faults early and support predictive health monitoring.

Completed

Gesture-Controlled IoT System

A gesture control system using ESP32 microcontrollers, IMU sensing, spectral feature extraction, and MQTT to trigger remote actuator commands.

  • ESP32
  • TinyML
  • MQTT

Highlights

  • ESP32 microcontrollers read hand motion from an IMU sensor.
  • Spectral feature extraction turns raw motion into features a TinyML model can classify on the device.
  • Recognized gestures travel over MQTT to trigger commands on a remote actuator.
